What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of exercise and movement designed to strengthen, lengthen and balance the body. Invented by Joseph Pilates in 1912, during WWI, it was originally called Control-logy and was used for injured and bed-ridden soldiers.

Joseph Pilates added springs to hospital beds, teaching his patients to exercise against resistance and to help them get their bodies moving again, this is now known as the Reformer.  Mat-work Pilates was used for training at home. When Joseph moved to the USA, he began teaching professional dancers, celebrities and sports men and women about Pilates.

Pilates for men and women, and can really compliment other sports. Pilates conditions the whole body and can even boost your mental health. Kerry teaches in studios, at home, and often on the beach. With little equipment needed you can even train at work or on holiday outside of the UK. “Since COVID and the locking down of studios, home training has soared through the roof. It has been wonderful to be see so many people embrace online training programs and improve their wellbeing during these difficult times”.
